De repente, como si se tratara de una canción de relleno, los PSB se han sacado de la manga uno de esos temazos que esconden en una cara B, concretamente la del single de Did you see me coming?, el pasado junio.
After the event está a la altura de otras caras B tremendas como Shameless, Some speculation o Miserablism. Sin grandes arreglos: ellos con sus sintetizadores y poco más, con la esencia PSB, con la elegancia por bandera, y de repente… con un temazo rotundo.
Se trata de una canción cíclica (o casi): acaba como empieza (eso parece), y con un estribillo muy potente y unos cambios de ritmo muy chulos. Además se va cogiendo poco a poco, con un último minuto precioso. Impresionante. Ellos dicen que es una "epic song".
Ya se sabe que esto es cuestión de gustos, pero a mí, este es uno de los tipos de canciones que más me gustan de los PSB: cuando se ponen a hacer techno elegante bailable con una melancolía más que evidente en la letra inteligente y controvertida, y Neil cantando con voz grave.
Desde que la escuché, a principios de verano, se convirtió en una de las imprescindibles en cualquier cd que me haga de los Pet, y hoy la comparto con vosotros.
